Summary Report of the 525th RSK Meeting

The RSK discussed issues related to its statement “Requirements for the cooling of the fuel assemblies in the spent fuel pool during residual operation” with regard to the implementation in the operating rules of the plants. Furthermore, the RSK was informed about the discussions in the Committee on PLANT AND SYSTEMS ENGINEERING (AST) on possible effects of heavy rain events on nuclear installations. The consultations are to be continued and the results documented in a status report.

Summary Report of the 469th RSK Meeting

The consultation on the statements on section-wide unavailabilities due to electrical coupling between redundant sections of the emergency power system of German nuclear power plants and on neutron flux oscillations, deformations of fuel assemblies, damage to cladding tubes, spacers, hold-down springs and alignment pins were started. The draft statement on inspection methods for installation and installation situation of anchors and ensuring the required load transfer was referred to the Committee on PRESSURE-RETAINING COMPONENTS AND MATERIALS (DKW) for revision.

Summary Report of the 471st RSK Meeting

The RSK was informed of the results of the 69th meeting of the Nuclear Safety Standards Commission (KTA). Note was taken of the statement of the RSK Committee on PLANT AND SYSTEMS ENGINEERING (AST) on the "Formation and effects of an unborated water plug during steam generator tube rupture" (in German). The consultations on the statement on neutron flux oscillations, deformations of fuel assemblies, damage to cladding tubes, spacers, hold-down springs and alignment pins have been completed, editorial amendments are to follow.

Summary Report of the 473rd RSK Meeting

At the meeting, the status of RSK participation in the consultations on various KTA safety standards was presented. Report was given to the RSK on current consultations within its committees. The consultations on the statement on requirements for LOCA analyses using statistical methods (Anforderungen an die statistische Nachweisführung bei Kühlmittelverluststörfall-Analysen) were continued.

Summary Report of the 470th RSK Meeting

The comments on the draft IAEA DS 460 “Communication and Consultation with Interested Parties by the Regulatory Body” were submitted to the BMUB and the voting on the resolution proposals of the Nuclear Safety Standards Commission (KTA) (preparation of the 69th KTA meeting on 11.11.2014) was determined. The consultations on the statement neutron flux oscillations, deformations of fuel assemblies, damage to cladding tubes, spacers, hold-down springs and alignment pins were continued.

Summary Report of the 464th RSK Meeting

At the meeting, the newly appointed RSK members were welcomed. The RSK proposed to the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) to appoint Mr. Rudolf Wieland as Chairman and Mr. Richard Donderer as Vice Chairman. The RSK was informed by the BMUB on the revision of the WENRA “Safety Reference Levels for existing reactors” and by GRS about the current state of affairs as regards the accidents at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
